Update #8 -- Friday, October 30th, 2026

Principal's Message

Hello Teston Village PS families,

Thank you for another wonderful week!

November is always a busy and exciting month as we prepare for Progress Reports and Parent-Teacher Interviews. These are valuable opportunities for students, families, and teachers to reflect on learning, celebrate growth, and identify goals for continued success. We encourage families to have conversations with their children about their academic and personal goals and to work alongside teachers to support their progress.

As we approach reporting time, a friendly reminder that attendance and punctuality are important habits that support student success. Our school doors open at 8:00 a.m., allowing students 15 minutes to settle in before learning begins at 8:15 a.m. Arriving on time helps students begin their day calmly, participate in morning routines, and feel ready to learn. Attendance and punctuality are also reflected on the Progress Report. Thank you for helping your children develop these important lifelong habits.

Remembrance Day – Wednesday, November 11

On November 11, we pause to remember and honour the Canadians who have served and sacrificed during times of war, conflict, and peacekeeping. Remembrance Day provides an important opportunity for our students to reflect on the values of peace, courage, service, and gratitude.

This year, we are pleased to welcome the York Regional Police Community Chorus to our Remembrance Day assembly. This dedicated group of volunteer singers generously shares its time and talents with communities across York Region. The Chorus will open our ceremony with O Canada and perform three additional musical selections. Our assembly will also feature student performances, the laying of a wreath, and a special slideshow presentation. Throughout the day, you may notice students and staff wearing red poppies as a symbol of remembrance and respect.

Families and community members are warmly invited to join us on Wednesday, November 11, at 10:30 a.m. in the school gymnasium. We ask that guests arrive a few minutes early, as our ceremony will begin promptly. We look forward to coming together as a school community to honour those who have served and to reflect on our shared responsibility to build a peaceful and caring world. For more information on Remembrance Day, please visit the Government of Canada website.

Below, you’ll find a recap of this week’s highlights as well as some upcoming events.

Sincerely,

A letter will be sent home to families very soon. with more information and specific dates for each of our classrooms with Grade 3 students.

We are looking for volunteers!

If you are interested in being a school volunteer, contact the main office and speak with Ms. DiRoma. A vulnerable sector check from the YRP is needed and is valid for the school. This is a great way to be involved in the school, to help out, and to join classes on a school trip or special event.
