Update #7 -- Friday, October 23rd, 2026

Principal's Message

Hello Teston Village PS families,

Thank you for another wonderful week at TVPS!

As we head into the final week of October, I’m so proud of the effort and enthusiasm our students are showing each day. It’s great to see them working collaboratively with their teachers and classmates and finding ways to include others in their games and activities.

We started two new programs that we offer at Teston Village in collaboration with our social work department and the Big Brother Big Sister organization, called Trails to Wellness and Go Girls!

As a gentle reminder, please continue to remind your child to keep their hands and feet to themselves while playing, so everyone can enjoy a fun and safe recess experience. Two wrongs do not make a situation right, and it is best to walk away from a situation that may get worse and ask for an adult to help solve the conflict.

Below, you’ll find a recap of this week’s highlights as well as some upcoming events.

Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

iWALK Day! Join us on Thursday, October 29th

October is International Walk to School Month (iWALK). This is an annual global celebration of active transportation. Students, parents, staff, and the school community are encouraged to walk or wheel on the journey to and from school.

TVPS staff and students will participate in our weekly morning walk, where we will meet up with students, and then we will walk back to school together and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and a cookie.

  • On October 29th, we will meet at Boom Rd. and America Ave.

We want to apologize for the mix-up this week with our iWalk. We had printed a meet-up location at the Bridge and notified the students of a different location. We will be sure to be at the right location this week and on time!

Here are some friendly reminders and expectations:

  • No Halloween masks are to be worn.

  • No replica weapons of any kind are allowed.

  • Students should only use single-use make-up (sharing of make-up is not recommended).

  • Continue to engage students in meaningful curriculum-based learning throughout this day.

  • In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, communicate to students that it is important that costumes do not trivialize and devalue the lives of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

  • Have a plan for students that do not participate in Halloween activities

November 11th - Remembrance Day Service

Families will be sent more information about the opportunity to attend. We will start at 10:30am and will play The Last Post at 11am, followed by a moment of silence.

We are looking for volunteers!

If you are interested in being a school volunteer, contact the main office and speak with Ms. DiRoma. A vulnerable sector check from the YRP is needed and is valid for the school. This is a great way to be involved in the school, to help out, and to join classes on a school trip or special event.
