TVPS Update Week #9 - Friday, October 24th, 2025

Principal's Message

Hello Teston Village PS families,

Thank you for another wonderful week at TVPS!

As we head into the final week of October, I’m so proud of the effort and enthusiasm our students are showing each day. It’s great to see them working collaboratively with their teachers and classmates and finding ways to include others in their games and activities.  As a gentle reminder, please continue to remind your child to keep their hands and feet to themselves while playing, so everyone can enjoy a fun and safe recess experience. Two wrongs do not make a situation right, and it is best to walk away from a situation that may get worse and ask for an adult to help solve the conflict.

Starting November 1, our school newsletter will only be available on our school website. This change is part of the updated security measures from our school board to help protect school communications.

Where to find it: Go to https://testonvillage-ps.yrdsb.ca/  →  click on “News” or “Weekly Newsletter.”

Below, you’ll find a recap of this week’s highlights as well as some upcoming events.

Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

Spirit Day is on Friday October 31st.

Halloween / Autumn Spirit Day!

  • It is important to consider the ways in which Halloween is celebrated and recognized in schools. Please refer to the general information below.

  • Your child’s teacher will communicate specific plans for the day if there is anything that will be taking place regarding Spirit Day

  • Students will continue to engage students in meaningful curriculum-based learning

  • Students do not need to wear costumes - are welcome to wear orange and black or autumn colours.

  • Costumes should be respectful of others. Symbols or objects representative of a person’s race, culture, ethnicity, or religious beliefs should not be worn as another person’s costume, nor should costumes that caricature social identities through stereotyping.

  • In the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation, it is important that costumes do not trivialize and devalue the lives of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

  • No Halloween masks are to be worn. No replica weapons of any kind are allowed.

  •  If students choose to wear make-up, sharing of make-up is not recommended.

Pack a spoon or fork from home.

Our office team has been happy to help students during the first month of school as everyone settled into new routines. As we move forward, we kindly ask families to double-check lunch bags before leaving home to make sure everything is packed—including a spoon or fork if needed. Being prepared helps students take responsibility for their belongings and keeps lunchtime running smoothly for everyone.

Avoid picking up your child between 2:00pm - 2:35pm

We are kindly asking that families make an effort to consider picking up their children after the school day is over and avoid early pickup between 2:00 and 2:35pm
