Principal's Message
Hello Teston Village PS families,
Thank you for another wonderful week at TVPS!
Starting November 1, our school newsletter will be available on our school website. This change is part of the updated security measures from our school board to help protect school communications.
This update will also make it more convenient for families, as you’ll be able to find all school and school board information in one place.
Next week’s edition will be the last one shared through this link. After that, please visit our website each week to read the latest newsletter.
Where to find it:
Go to https://testonvillage-ps.yrdsb.ca/ → click on “News” or “Weekly Newsletter.”
Thank you for your understanding and for staying connected with our school community!
As we continue exploring our character trait of responsibility, this week we’re focusing on learning from our mistakes. When we make mistakes, it’s important to take responsibility for our actions and our choices. It is hard sometimes to acknowledge what went wrong and think about how the situation can improve. Taking responsibility also means showing honesty, kindness, and a willingness to make things right. When you start to take responsibility for your decisions, then you start to build trust with others.
To all those celebrating Diwali on Monday, October 20th, I would like to wish you and your families a very happy celebration. Diwali is the "Festival of Lights," a five-day holiday celebrated by millions that marks the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. Please see this video to mark this important day.
DECE Appreciation Day: Ontario will recognize ECE Appreciation Day on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. This is a day to celebrate the important work of Early Childhood Educators and childcare staff. At Teston Village, we are grateful for our three wonderful DECEs, Ms. Bassi, Ms. Pantalone, and Ms. Stankus, who work closely with our Kindergarten teachers. They play an essential role in supporting our youngest learners as they begin their school journey, helping to build emotional, social, and academic skills. Thank you for your dedication, care, and the positive energy you bring to our school community each day.
Responsibility when packing lunch and snacks!
There are children with allergies, especially life threatening allergies in our school. While it is impossible to create a risk-free environment, parents can help by checking what is sent to school for kids to eat.
DO NOT send any foods that may contain PEANUTS and/or NUTS.
Please check the list of ingredients for peanut butter, peanut sauce, peanut oil, mixed nuts, ground nuts, artificial nuts, and macadamia nuts. Examples include cookies, chocolate, granola bars, some cereal bars
Please NO Nutella or chocolate spreads for sandwiches
Avoid products that say “may contain peanut/nuts”.
If you are unsure about a chosen product, please do not send it to school. We thank you for your cooperation.
This is just a friendly reminder that there is a PA Day on Friday, October 24th, and there is no school for students.
Below, you’ll find a recap of this week’s highlights as well as some upcoming events.
Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

TVPS will participate in Take Me Outside Day of Learning on Wednesday, October 22nd.
Take Me Outside Day https://takemeoutside.ca/ was a day dedicated to helping raise awareness of the value of outdoor learning for many of our learners. The website provided educators with an entire week full of activities, speakers, and prizes to encourage students to head beyond the four walls of a classroom! Pictures from this fun day will be shared on our Instagram account really soon!
Pack a spoon or fork from home.
Our office team has been happy to help students during the first month of school as everyone settled into new routines. As we move forward, we kindly ask families to double-check lunch bags before leaving home to make sure everything is packed—including a spoon or fork if needed. Being prepared helps students take responsibility for their belongings and keeps lunchtime running smoothly for everyone.
Avoid picking up your child between 2:00pm - 2:35pm
We are kindly asking that families make an effort to consider picking up their children after the school day is over and avoid early pickup between 2:00 and 2:35pm
