TVPS Update Week #4 - Friday, September 19th

Principal's Message

Hello Teston Village PS families,

Thank you to all of our students and staff for another wonderful week of learning.

Student Safety and Attendance: We ask that all parents/guardians let us know through EDSBY or a phone call if your child is going to be late or absent. We have a legal obligation to ensure that each child is safely accounted for each day. Daily attendance at school is important for consistent learning and success for students in their academics, friendships, and sense of belonging.

We are kindly asking that families make an effort to consider picking up their children after the school day is over and avoid early pickup between 2:00 and 2:35pm. It is so important that we are not constantly calling into classrooms and looking to pull children out of class, if it can be avoided. We will be reviewing how we can safely support our bus lines and manage the growing number of students who continuously are signed out early at the end of the day.

8:00-8:15am -- students arrive and make their way to class

8:15am -- School starts.

2:35pm -- School day is over.

Rosh Hashanah marks the celebration of the Jewish New Year and is the first of the Jewish High Holy Days. It begins a solemn ten-day period that ends with Yom Kippur. We send our best wishes to those in our community and on staff who will be celebrating next week. Shana Tovah, may you have a good and sweet new year. Please see this video message to mark this important day.

Also, on Friday. Sept. 26th, there is a PA Day. There is no school for students.

Wishing everyone a wonderful week ahead!

Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

The Terry Fox Walk takes place this week! Thursday, Sept. 25th.

In the afternoon of the 25th, we will host our Terry Fox Walk. Terry is a legendary Canadian who started the movement to raise money for cancer research, and started the Marathon of Hope in 1980, and we continue his journey across the world. At Teston Village, we aim to raise $1000.00! That is asking each student to bring $3.00 to school. By this Thursday, let's all pitch in to meet our goal. To learn more about Terry, watch this video with your children. https://youtu.be/70WbeqNOJQs?si=-kJVptJXkEB-m7bB

Send in any donation amount with your child this week.

Cobs Bread Support for TVPS.

@cobsbreadmackenzieglen has provided our community with fresh bread and baked goods items for the last three years. We have been sending home bagged items to ensure we share items with as many families as possible. If your family could use the support from the distribution of bread, please let Ms. Giselle Lupo (office secretary) know, and we would be happy to support your request as much as possible. We are grateful for their generosity and for the staff who volunteer their time to pick up items from the bakery every 2 weeks to make this initiative possible.

Safety Week (Monday, September 22 to Friday, October 3, 2025)

The York Region School Board is committed to ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors in the event of an emergency situation. As such, during Safety Week (Monday, September 22 to Friday, October 3, 2025) and throughout the school year, schools in our Board practise various safety drills, including Fire Drills, Lockdown Drills, Hold and Secure Drills and Bomb Threat Drills. It is critical that all members of our school community become familiar with emergency protocols as they are designed to keep all of us safe at school. Please refer to Board Policy #669.0 for more information about Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management.

Practising drills may create some anxiety for some students. If you are concerned about how these situations might impact the mental health and well-being of your child, please contact school administrators, as we have school mental health professionals available to support your child.
