Principal's Message
Dear Teston Village PS Families,
The weeks ahead continue to be very busy at Teston Village, with many exciting opportunities for learning, athletics, and community events.
Rock, Paper, Scissors
Our school-wide challenge came to a close last Friday. The students had their final showdown at the assembly and there were a lot of cheers and twists along the way. In the end, there was only one winner! Congratulations to Zaydan K. -you are the R.P.S. Champion of 2026-2027!! We hope you like your medal! Thank you to everyone who played. We raised close to $220.00 and the money will go 50/50 to both CAMH and Kids Help Phone.
Jump Rope for Heart
Here is our link to donate before May 27th: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/122409
This year, our goal is to raise $800 and we are almost there with $650.00 in donations!!!
Donations made directly through the Heart and Stroke Foundation are eligible for a tax receipt. We will also have envelopes available at school for families who prefer to send in cash donations.
Field Trip for Students in Grades 2, 4, and 7
All three groups will be heading to the Burlington Outdoor Resource Centre (BORC) for a full day of outdoor learning. Each grade will attend on a different day this week. Students are reminded to dress for the weather, wear appropriate footwear, and bring a healthy and filling lunch, as portions of the day will take place outdoors.
Swim to Survive Program
We are also beginning to organize this year’s Swim to Survive program for students in Grades 3 and 7, and permission forms will be sent home shortly. The Swim to Survive+ program teaches students important water safety skills, including:
how to ROLL, TREAD, and SWIM with clothes on to better simulate a real-life fall into water
how to use TALK, REACH, THROW strategies to safely help someone in deep water without putting themselves at risk
Teston Village is scheduled to attend sessions at Vellore Village Community Centre on June 10, 12, and 17. More information will be shared once transportation details are finalized.
Our Track and Field events will also continue this week.
Students in Grades 4 to 8 will participate in a variety of outdoor activities, many of which are being led by our Grade 8 student leaders. Finalists from these events will go on to represent Teston Village at the Area Track and Field Meet at Emily Carr. Please remember that regular attendance is important in order to participate and qualify for events.
Freezie Friday Success!
A big thank you to our School Council for helping make our first few days of Freezie sales such a success during Track and Field events. We will have one more Freezie Friday this week on May 22. Freezies are $2.00 each, and we have a limited number of small freezies remaining for $1.00. All funds to support Grade 8 grads and other initiatives in the school.
EQAO starts this week
We would also like to remind families that EQAO assessments for students in Grades 3 and 6 will begin soon. Grade 6 students will complete their assessment on May 21, 22, and 25, while Grade 3 students will write on May 29, June 2, and June 3. We kindly ask families to avoid booking appointments during these dates whenever possible so students can be present for the full assessment sessions.
End of Year Celebration
Finally, School Council is excited to announce plans for a year-end Tornado Festival for Teston Village families. Please save the date for Thursday, June 4 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. More information will be shared soon, including details about School Cash Online purchases.
Thank you for your continued support, and we wish you a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

Health Unit Letters are Coming Home Very Soon!
An important letter was sent home with your child related to the Human Development and Sexual Health unit of the Ontario Physical and Health Education curriculum.
the description of “what students will learn” from the ministry website onto the letter
Please read the letter carefully and take note of which dates that the lessons will be taught
If your child requires an exemption, you can collect an exemption form from the main office. The teacher will not send home an exemption letter.
For the exemption, this form must be completed and returned to the school 5 days before the lessons begin to be able to make accommodation arrangements—check your child's letter for when it is due back to the teacher
