Principal's Message
Dear Teston Village PS Families,
This week continued to be busy and full of great moments across our school community.
SODA
One event that truly stood out was the YRDSB's SODA (Students of Differentiated Ability) event at Bill Crothers Secondary School. On Monday, our community class students shone brightly as they took part in numerous exciting activities. Their hard work, spirit, and determination were truly inspiring! We are so proud of their achievements—each student returned home with a chest full of ribbons, a testament to their incredible effort and perseverance. A huge thank you goes out to our amazing community class staff and parents who supported and encouraged our students throughout this unforgettable experience.
Jump Rope for Heart
We are also excited to share that Teston Village will once again be supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation through our annual Jump Rope for Heart event!
Here is our link to donate before May 27th: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/122409
This year, our goal is to raise $800 and we are already half way there with $450.00 in donations!!!
Families are encouraged to support our fundraising efforts by donating online using the link. Donations made directly through the Heart and Stroke Foundation are eligible for a tax receipt: We will also have envelopes available at school for families who prefer to send in cash donations.
Kaleidoscope in the Schools (KITS)
We had our final performance of the year from the Aurora Cultural Center.
Kaleidoscope in the Schools (KITS) was at Teston Village on Wednesday, May 6th
We welcomed Jwoel "Jay Blues" Benn Blues. Guitarist, exploring decades of music that connect with self-identity, identity and community, music and social action, well-being, and the healing properties of music. The one hour we spent in the Gym was a great experience for many of our students who are unfamiliar with the blues! We look forward to more opportunities in the next school year where we can continue to bring The Arts to our school.
TVPS Badminton Team
The intermediate badminton team proudly represented Teston Village at the West Areas Competition. Competing for over eight hours, the boys’ doubles, mixed doubles, and girls’ doubles pairings faced intense matches throughout the day.
The Teston Tornadoes played with outstanding skill, determination, integrity, and sportsmanship. Spectators and coaches alike praised the athletes for the respectful and composed way they carried themselves on and off the court.
In Boys' Doubles: Jazib & Raeed advanced to the Round of 16, while Salman & Tamseel earned an impressive 5th-place finish in their first areas competition.
In Mixed Doubles: Maheera, Asma & Tahir also made it to the round of 16, and Amsaal & Noor got 4th place overall.
In Girls' Doubles: Cara & Aamna reached the quarter-finals, while Aayma & Unta captured FIRST place, bringing another badminton banner back to Teston. We know they will represent us well at Regionals.
Mr. Chan and Mr. McKay extend their heartfelt thanks to all team members for their dedication throughout the season. We are incredibly proud of your growth, effort, and accomplishments. Go Tornadoes!
