Principal's Message
Dear Teston Village PS Families,
This week continued to be busy and full of great moments across our school community.
Safety and well-being at the park
As we continue to enjoy the warmer weather, we would like to remind families about the importance of student safety and well-being at the playground and park outside of school hours. We kindly ask that parents and caregivers supervise their children and help guide positive interactions. Encouraging respectful communication, kind words, and responsible choices helps ensure that our shared spaces remain safe and welcoming for everyone.
Jump Rope for Heart
We are also excited to share that Teston Village will once again be supporting the Heart and Stroke Foundation through our annual Jump Rope for Heart event at the end of May. This year, our goal is to raise $800, and there are some fun incentives planned along the way. Families are encouraged to support our fundraising efforts by donating online using the link below. Donations made directly through the Heart and Stroke Foundation are eligible for a tax receipt: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/122409
We will also have envelopes available at school for families who prefer to send in cash donations.
Mental Health Awareness Week
Looking ahead, we are excited for Mental Health Awareness Week and the activities planned for our students. On Thursday, we will be hosting a school-wide activity day, with sessions offered at three different times. Students will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of activities, including outdoor games, indoor crafts, baking, bubbles, and rhythm-based experiences. Students will select their activity ahead of time and enjoy a portion of the day participating in something that interests them. It is sure to be a fun and engaging experience for all!
Finally, the YRDSB 2026–2027 school year calendars have been approved by the Ministry and are now available online:

We encourage families to review the calendar as you begin planning for the upcoming school year.
Thank you for your continued support, and we wish you a wonderful weekend.
Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

Children’s Mental Health Week is This Week!
Each year, Ontarians mark the first full week of May as Children's Mental Health Week. As we move through the school year's remaining months, we pause to acknowledge the many realities that impact our day-to-day experiences and mental health. We acknowledge that many feel tired and busy, among other feelings. These realities, thoughts and feelings are valid and important. As such, this resource has been carefully created to complement existing routines and at-home wellness practices. We have collaborated with the York Region Public Health Healthy Schools team to create a resource that we hope will create opportunities for joy and wellness. Be sure to also check out our Student Mental Health and Addictions Newsletter for additional resources.
