TVPS Update Week #31 - Friday, April 17th, 2026

Principal's Message

Dear Teston Village PS Families,

This week continued to be busy and full of great moments across our school community.

Volleyball "Fun"raiser

We had our second volleyball game, and it did not disappoint! This time, we welcomed special guest players, Ms. Lupo from the main office and Ms. Grisolia from the junior division. The game was close and exciting, with students showing great effort and teamwork on both teams. It seems we are not done yet because Ms. Lupo has called for a final re-match! Stay tuned for one last game of the season. Thank you to families for sending in $1.00 donations. With your support, we have raised just over $250.00 for the Grade 8 grads.

Recess Expectations

Families who live near the school may hear announcements during recess. At this time, we are continuing with “tarmac-only” recess, which means students are not permitted to bring or play with balls. With many students on the pavement, this helps keep everyone safe. This decision is guided by the Board’s Facilities Department and our local field conditions. The ground remains too soft for safe use. We kindly ask that families do not send balls to school for the next few weeks. *** Once the ground has dried, we look forward to reopening the field and bringing back outdoor equipment.

The Big Crunch!

On April 17th, we participated in The Big Crunch, and it was wonderful to see and hear almost the entire school bite into their apples at the same time! This fun event helped promote healthy food choices for both the body and mind. Thank you to Ms. Kaur, Ms. Lupo, and Ms. Ghumman for organizing such a successful activity.

School Council Meeting

This week, our Parent Council met after some time. Thank you to our council members for sharing thoughtful ideas and engaging in meaningful discussions. Topics included EQAO, year-end picnic planning, homework and Google Classroom, and future fundraising opportunities. Our final meeting of the year is scheduled for Thursday, May 21st at 6:30pm.

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables

As the weather becomes warmer, we encourage families to continue including a variety of fruits and vegetables in lunch and snack bags for their children. At school, we have been adding items such as carrots, peppers, celery, and cucumbers to our snack program to set an example of different types of vegetables students can try and then share with their family at home. Offering your children a range of healthy options helps build strong habits and encourages them to try new foods. What new foods might your child explore next?

Thank you for your continued support, and we wish you a wonderful weekend.

Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

  • If you send grapes to school, please consider cutting them in half and remind your child eat first and chat with their friends after they are done eating small berries and grapes.

Your consideration in these matters is greatly appreciated as we work together to create the best possible learning experience for your children.

Earth Day is coming up next week! and is officially on Wednesday, April 22, 2026

April is Earth Month. This is a time to reflect on how our everyday choices can help protect the planet. Simple actions like turning off lights, using reusable containers, and reducing waste at home are meaningful ways to care for the environment.

Families play an important role in modeling these habits. By making thoughtful choices about conservation and waste, we help children build lifelong practices that support a healthier world. Next week, our students will take part in a school-wide cleanup on April 22 to help beautify our school grounds. If weather does not cooperate, the cleanup will take place the following day. Together, we can take pride in caring for our shared space.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

Families Planning to Move or Students Not Returning in September

As we begin our planning for the 2025-2026 school year, we kindly ask you to inform the school office if your family has plans to move over the summer or if your children will not be returning in September for any reason. This information helps us to ensure a smooth transition for all students and to make necessary staffing arrangements for the upcoming academic year.
