TVPS Update Week #20 - Friday, January 23rd

Principal's Message

Hello Teston Village PS families,

Since December, we have welcomed several new families to Teston Village and many new readers of our weekly newsletter. The TVPS Weekly is our school newsletter, shared by email at the end of each week. It is our primary way of communicating with our community and can be easily translated into multiple languages to support the diverse families at Teston Village.

We encourage all families and members of our school community to stay informed by reading the newsletter regularly. We use one consistent link each week, which is posted on our school website:

We also share quick updates, reminders, and celebrations on our school Instagram account, @testonvillage, with posts shared on weekdays.

As we approach the end of Term 1 for elementary schools, we are preparing to begin Term 2 on Monday, February 3rd. During this time, teachers will be finalizing report cards and communicating students’ learning progress from September to January. Many students are currently completing outstanding assignments, projects, presentations, quizzes, or homework. We encourage students to stay organized, spread out their responsibilities, and connect with their teacher or Google Classroom to review any remaining tasks and track their progress.

As a reminder, families do not need to wait for formal interviews or report cards to discuss their child’s progress. If you have questions or would like to connect, please reach out to your child’s teacher by email or phone to arrange a conversation at a mutually convenient time.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support.

We are looking forward to a fast-paced and busy Term 2!

FRIDAY, JANUARY 30th is another P.A. DAY and so there is no school for students.

Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

Safety with Food and Allergy Awareness

Peanut/Nut Free Products: This is a reminder that food items that contain nuts are not allowed at school. Please ensure that you read the labels prior to sending the items to school.

Cold Weather and Outdoor Play

All students are expected to go out for recess unless weather conditions pose a safety risk. Temperature, wind chill, sun/cloud conditions, humidity, and wind velocity are monitored. On days of extreme weather conditions, schools will consider a shortened or indoor recess. Children need to be dressed properly for our winter days.

Recess

Families sometimes request their children be kept indoors during recess times because they are not feeling well. Students with illnesses that prevent them from participating in outdoor recess should remain at home until their condition improves. Please see the YRDSB’s Extreme Weather for more information.

If students are well enough to come to school, they are expected to go outside for recess.
