Principal's Message
Hello Teston Village PS families,
What a week! We certainly experienced a significant snowstorm, and students enjoyed an extra-long weekend with both a snow day and a PA Day. We hope everyone had time to enjoy the snow while staying warm and healthy.
As a reminder from York Region Public Health, reducing the spread of respiratory infections in schools continues to be important. If your child is not feeling well, please allow them the time they need to rest and recover at home. This helps prevent the spread of germs and supports a quicker recovery.
Families are advised to keep children at home until they are fever-free and symptoms have been improving for at least 24 hours (or 48 hours in cases of vomiting or diarrhea).
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our school community healthy.
Routines and Reminders:
Between 8:00am - 8:15am, students are on time. After 8:15am, students are late for school. Let's do better and arrive at school on time!
Students must have proper running shoes to participate in gym class.
Make sure students wear boots for recess. They cannot play safe or warm in shoes.
Snowpants, a hat, gloves and a scarf help your child stay warm and enjoy recess in the winter
FRIDAY, JANUARY 30th is another P.A. DAY and so there is no school for students on January 30th
Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

Renewed Computer Technology - Great Opportunity!
As part of a partnership between YRDSB and Renewed Computer Technology (RCT), families with children enrolled in our Board have the opportunity to purchase quality refurbished computers at a reduced cost.
Applicants must live in Ontario, have a student enrolled at YRDSB and either receive government assistance payments or qualify as a limited income earner under the limited income cut-off standards*.
Parents and legal guardians may apply for one computer per student, with a limit of two per household. If you are interested in applying, please complete an online application at https://www.jotform.com/210054491659255 using the group code on the attached program flyer. The application period is from January 15, 2025 – February 27, 2025.
Please Note - There are sections in the RCT Online Application that are no longer applicable:
Requirement of Proof or Documentation of Income
Requirement to participate in training prior to receiving your computer/laptop
This year, there are different packages available for purchase. Please reference the online application page for the current available package offerings. Please note that there are three options for delivery.
If you would like for the computer to be delivered directly to your home, there is RCT OTR Order Form, a $25 charge for laptops and a $35 charge for desktops. Families who choose this delivery option will have their order shipped when it is ready, roughly 3 weeks from date of order.
If you would like the device shipped to your child’s school there is a $20 delivery charge. If you choose this shipping option, the computer will be delivered to your child's school in March after the end of the promotion period. Please indicate the name of the school on the form when selecting this option.
You may choose to pick up the computer from the RCT Mississauga Warehouse, for free, located at 945 Meyerside Drive, Mississauga. Families who choose this option will have their order ready for pick up roughly 3 weeks after the date of order.
If you do not have access to a computer or the Internet, please contact the administration team at your school for assistance.

Recess
If students are well enough to come to school, they are expected to go outside for recess.
Our students benefit from spending time outside and being active. We monitor weather conditions throughout the day. If there are extreme weather conditions, we may consider a shortened or indoor recess.
Bus or School Cancellations
When an extreme cold or inclement weather day is declared, school transportation (including buses and taxis) is cancelled in the morning and afternoon. Schools will remain open. Please notify the school if your child will not be attending school on those days. Students will not be penalized for missing school on these days.
Board’s Severe Weather Policy
There may be rare instances when emergency weather events occur and we need to close all schools and Board locations. Please take the time to make plans in the event of an emergency school closure. Information about transportation cancellations and Board closures will be shared through local media, Board and school websites and on X @YRDSB. Our process for extreme cold, inclement weather and emergency weather days is outlined in the policy.
