Principal's Message
Hello Teston Village PS families,
We had a wonderful week before the start of the winter break. We enjoyed several theme days this week and we loved seeing so many students dressed up, wearing hats, Teston colours, and PJs! I think our favourites this year were the Christmas sweater collection owned by Mr. Divito, Ms. Terebeni and her holiday outfits, Ms. Ledgister and her holiday accessories, and Ms. Grisolia's bright orange suit!. The finale of our week was the annual holiday assembly and sing-along! Thank you to Ms. Reid and the committee of students who helped organize the morning festivities, and thank you to the families who attended.
Food Drive Donations & Giving Tree
I would like to extend a sincere thank you to our families for their generosity and care for others. The donations for the food drive that we shared this season were warmly received, and we are grateful for the support shown to those in need. Our Giving Tree was beautifully filled with gloves, socks, hats, scarves, hair accessories, and festive items, which will be shared widely and thoughtfully as needs arise. It takes a special kind of village to come together in times of need and support.
Festivals and Celebrations in December
During the month of December, there are several beautiful celebrations we would like to acknowledge. We extend warm wishes to all members of our community who are celebrating Christmas (December 25th), Las Posadas (December 16th - 24th) Hanukkah (December 14th –22nd), Kwanzaa (December 26th – January 1st), and the birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji on January 5th. We extend our best wishes to staff, students and members of each community who will be celebrating these festive occasions.
Message from the Office:
As we approach the winter break and the new year, I would like to wish all Teston Village families a safe and memorable holiday season. This is a time to rest, reflect, and appreciate our health and the strength of our families, which keep us grounded and motivated to continue growing together. I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our dedicated staff for their hard work and commitment in the classrooms each day. Your efforts have a lasting and meaningful impact on our students. Thank you as well to our families for your ongoing trust and partnership, and to our students for their commitment to learning and citizenship.
I'm sending my best wishes to all of our Teston Village families for a safe, restful, and meaningful winter break. This is our final update of 2025. We look forward to welcoming students back to school on Monday, January 5th, 2026.
Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

Repeat and Summary of our Dress for the Weather Message:
Students should come dressed appropriately for the weather and for outdoor play. Students can stay warm by wearing layers of loose-fitting clothing, a hat, scarf, jackets, snow pants, and mittens or gloves. Students may also want to bring extra pants and socks in case they get wet.
Recess
If students are well enough to come to school, they are expected to go outside for recess. Our students benefit from spending time outside and being active. We monitor weather conditions throughout the day. If there are extreme weather conditions, we may consider a shortened or indoor recess.
Bus or School Cancellations
When an extreme cold or inclement weather day is declared, school transportation (including buses and taxis) is cancelled in the morning and afternoon. Schools will remain open. Please notify the school if your child will not be attending school on those days. Students will not be penalized for missing school on these days.
Board’s Severe Weather policy. https://www2.yrdsb.ca/
There may be rare instances when emergency weather events occur and we need to close all schools and Board locations. Please take the time to make plans in the event of an emergency school closure. Information about transportation cancellations and Board closures will be shared through local media, Board and school websites and on X @YRDSB. Our process for extreme cold, inclement weather and emergency weather days is outlined in the policy.
