TVPS Update Week #15 - Friday, December 5th, 2025

Principal's Message

Hello Teston Village PS families,

Thank you for another successful week of learning. This past week, we continued to see students rehearsing for the upcoming Winter Showcase on Thursday, December 11th. Decorations are being prepared, and tickets with treats are available for purchase using School Cash Online. We are so proud of all of the hard work and effort that Mr. Mckay has put into the planning and organizing of this evening. It is a wonderful way for families to support their children and also participate in our school-wide event.

  • Showcase # 1 is at 5:00pm  -- tickets are $2.00 each

  • Showcase # 2 is at 6:00pm  -- tickets are $2.00 each

A ticket is required for each show. This means if you are going to attend both shows then you will need two tickets.

The character trait for the month is empathy, and we find that this is often a season where families share their good fortune with those in need. We have set up a bin to fill with non-perishable food items. We know that inflation and different situations have caused many families to have to turn to a food bank for support. If you can contribute to our school food drive, we would appreciate the donation! Just one item from every family will help to fill 3 barrels. We can do it!

List of urgently needed items:

  • BOXED CEREAL, CRACKERS

  • DEODORANT, SHAMPOO, SOAP

  • FLOUR, SUGAR, SPICES

  • CANNED TOMATOES, BEANS, OR LENTILS

  • TUNA, PASTA, TOMATO SAUCE

Winter Holidays - School Closure.

YRDSB schools will be closed from December 22nd to January 2nd. Schools will reopen on January 5th, 2026.

Sincerely,

Ms. S. Mediratta

Winter weather reminder for recess.

If students are well enough to come to school, they are expected to go outside for recess. Our students benefit from spending time outside and being active. We monitor weather conditions throughout the day. If there are extreme weather conditions, we may consider a shortened or indoor recess.

Feeling Sick? A Day of Rest May Be Best

We have noticed an increase in students coming to school while feeling unwell. If your child is showing signs of illness, we kindly encourage families to consider keeping them home to rest and fully recover. A day of proper rest helps your child return to learning feeling better, and it also supports the health and well-being of their classmates. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us maintain a healthy school environment for everyone.

Popcorn for Week #4

Thank you to the school council for all of their hard work! One more week to go!

Lunch & Snack Reminders

To help us maintain a safe and smooth lunchtime routine, please keep the following expectations in mind:

  • Lunch drop-off should arrive by 11:55 a.m. Lunches brought after 12:00 p.m. disrupt routines and means many students are waiting around

  • Nuts are not permitted at school, as they pose a life-threatening allergy risk for some of our students.

  • Nutella sandwiches are not allowed, as they contain hazelnuts.

  • No food sharing: Please remind your child not to share their lunch or snacks with friends. Even when children have kind intentions, this can create safety concerns for others.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep all students safe and supported during lunchtime.

Menstrual Hygiene Products

As part of a Ministry of Education initiative, our school provides menstrual hygiene products (such as pads and tampons) for students who may need them during the school day. These items are available in the intermediate hallway classrooms and in the main office. We offer these products in a quiet, respectful, and discreet manner to ensure students feel comfortable and supported.

Don't forget to order Pizza Lunch for the next term!

It is nice to have a day when you do not have to make lunch on Thursdays!

A Reminder About School Start Times

We would like to remind families about the hours in our school day:

  • 8:00–8:15 a.m. Students are expected to arrive at school

  • 8:15 a.m. Classes begin.

Students who arrive after 8:15 a.m. are considered late. Our day starts promptly with O Canada, morning announcements, and important instructions that help set students up for a successful day of learning. When students arrive late, they miss key parts of the morning routine, including:

  • birthday announcements

  • information about team practices, activities, and upcoming events

  • teacher instructions that launch the first lessons in Math or Language

Early mornings can be tough, especially on darker, colder days. Simple routines like setting an alarm, waking up a bit earlier, and ensuring a good night’s sleep help students start the day ready to learn. Thank you for working with us to support a smooth start for all students.

Indoor Shoes, please!

We are requesting families to leave us a pair of jogging shoes for school. Since the weather has gone cold and wet, your children will need warm boots to wear in the morning and for recess, outside.
