TVPS Update Week #13 - Friday, November 21st, 2025

Principal's Message

Hello Teston Village PS families,

Thank you for another wonderful week!

Progress Reports were sent home on Wednesday, November 19th. Over the past two days, we welcomed families into the school for parent-teacher interviews. Thank you to all the families who joined us in person. These conversations are an important part of our shared commitment to supporting student learning, well-being, and goal setting.

If you were unable to attend an interview, please feel free to contact your child’s teacher to arrange an alternate time. We value our partnership with families and are always happy to connect.

We have items to donate. Many students are still arriving without the appropriate seasonal clothing needed to stay warm and comfortable throughout the day. To support our school community, we are grateful to share that we have received a number of gently used winter items for younger children, including jackets, snow pants, hats, mittens, and warm clothing.

If your family, or a family you know, would benefit from these donated items, please contact the main office. We want to support every child so that they have what they need to enjoy outdoor play safely and comfortably.

Winter Weather: A few important reminders.

Indoor Shoes, please! We are requesting families to leave us a pair of jogging shoes for school. Since the weather has gone cold and wet, your children will need warm boots to wear in the morning and for recess outside.

Recess. If students are well enough to come to school, they are expected to go outside for recess. Our students benefit from spending time outside and being active. We monitor weather conditions throughout the day. If there are extreme weather conditions, we may consider a shortened or indoor recess.

Bus or School Cancellations. When an extreme cold or inclement weather day is declared, school transportation (including buses and taxis) is cancelled in the morning and afternoon. Schools will remain open. Please notify the school if your child will not be attending school on those days. Students will not be penalized for missing school on these days.

Board’s Severe Weather policy. https://www2.yrdsb.ca/

Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta

Winter Lights: A Unity in Diversity Celebration

More information and how to register can be found on the YRDSB website.

Join us for a Winter Lights: A Unity in Diversity Celebration, a YRDSB community event that will take place on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Thornhill Secondary School.

This celebration is open to all students, families, and community members from across the region, honouring the richness of cultural diversity through the shared symbolism of light during the winter season.

Our theme this year, “Unity in Diversity: Light Across Cultures,” reflects the universal symbolism of light as a source of hope, wisdom, and renewal. Across cultures, light represents reflection, gratitude, and togetherness, values that unite us beyond boundaries and remind us of our shared humanity.

A Reminder:
  • indoor shoes to wear when students take off their winter boots

  • some extra socks in a bag that can stay in the backpack

  • an extra set of clothes are also helpful for our primary students (pants and a t-shirt)
