TVPS Update Week #11 - Friday, November 7th, 2025

Principal's Message

Hello Teston Village PS families,

Thank you for another wonderful week!

This month, our focus is on courage. At school, courage can look like trying something new, asking a question when you’re unsure, or standing up for what is right. We encourage students to take small, brave steps each day, whether it’s tackling a challenging task, meeting a new friend, or sharing their ideas in class. These moments help build confidence and remind our students that courage grows with practice.

On November 8, we recognize Indigenous Veterans Day. This day honours the many First Nations, Inuit, and Métis soldiers who served with courage and strength in times of war and peace. We take this time to acknowledge their contributions and the important role Indigenous veterans have played in Canada’s history.  https://www.veterans.gc.ca/en/remembrance/people-and-stories/indigenous-veterans Flags at all Ontario government buildings and establishments across the province will be flown at half-mast from sunrise to sunset on Indigenous Veterans Day, Saturday, November 8, 2025.

On November 11, we will observe Remembrance Day. This is an important time for our school community to honour the courage and sacrifice of Canadians who have served in conflicts and peacekeeping missions around the world. We will hold a Remembrance Day service for students, staff, and families. For more information about Remembrance Day, please visit the Government of Canada website.

November is also a busy and meaningful month for learning. Progress reports will be sent home on November 19, followed by parent-teacher interviews. This is an opportunity for students and families to work together to set academic and social goals, and we encourage students to share these goals with their teachers so we can support them throughout the year.

Finally, some information about the state of the Boys Washroom!

Over the past two weeks, we have seen an increase in vandalism in the boys washrooms. Students have reported repeated instances of toilet paper being used to create significant messes, which has resulted in frequent closures and extra work for our caretaking team. We have also had several incidents involving damaged soap dispensers, including broken pumps and dispensers removed from the wall, leaving soap spilled across the floor. When soap is unavailable or the space is unsafe, we cannot allow students to use the washroom, which creates inconvenience for everyone. I am sharing this with families to be transparent about the time spent investigating these concerns and supporting students in using the washrooms responsibly. We ask families to speak with their children about respecting shared spaces and the importance of honesty as we work together to keep our school safe and clean for all.

Below, you’ll find a recap of this week’s highlights as well as some upcoming events.

Sincerely,
Ms. S. Mediratta
