Principal's Message

Dear Teston Village PS Families,

As we enter the final weeks of the school year, our calendar continues to be filled with opportunities for students to learn, celebrate, and make lasting memories.

This week, our Grade 8 students enjoyed a special day of graduation celebrations. On Tuesday, June 9, they spent time together sharing laughs, enjoying lunch, bowling with friends, and ending the day at the Blue Jays game. It was wonderful to see students creating memories together as they prepare for their final days at Teston Village. To make the day even more memorable, the Blue Jays came away with a win!

On Wednesday, June 10, we hosted our annual Volunteer Appreciation Tea. Our volunteers play an important role in supporting student success and helping to create the caring community that makes Teston Village so special. We are grateful for the time, energy, and support that so many families have shared with us throughout the year.

This Thursday, June 11, we welcomed many future students and families to our annual Discover Kindergarten evening. Staff prepared a variety of hands-on activities for children to explore, and the evening concluded with a story about starting school. We look forward to welcoming our newest Tornadoes in September and cannot wait to see them begin their school journey with us.

On Wednesday and Friday, our Grade 3 and Grade 7 students participated in the first two sessions of the Swim to Survive program at Vellore Village Community Centre. Students learned valuable water safety and survival skills, including how to respond safely in an unexpected water emergency. We are proud of the effort and participation shown by our students and look forward to their final session on June 17. 

We ended the week with our annual Wellness Day. Thank you to Ms. Kaur for her help to organize a variety of experiences for students across all divisions. From outdoor games and community walks to arts and crafts and collaborative activities, students had opportunities to connect with one another, stay active, and experience the joy that comes from learning and playing together.

Looking ahead, June 18th is one of the most anticipated days of the year for our Grade 8 students as they attend their graduation ceremony. It is always a privilege to watch our students cross the stage and receive their diplomas. We look forward to celebrating this important milestone with our graduates and their families.

Warm Weather Reminders

As the warmer weather is upon us, please note warm weather reminders below.

Hydration is Key: Please send your child to school with a refillable water bottle daily. We encourage frequent water breaks throughout the day.

Dress Appropriately for the Weather: Lightweight, light-colored, and breathable clothing is best.

Sun Protection: Please send your child with a hat and sunglasses for outdoor recess.

We also have a school hot weather action plan, which includes limited time outside under hot temperatures as well as cooling strategies and locations in the school.

Active Travel-E scooters and E bikes not Permitted for Under Age 16

YRDSB continues to encourage families to use safe transportation to and from school. We encourage students to use active school travel whenever possible. Active travel refers to any form of human-powered transportation, including walking, cycling, rollerblading, skateboarding, and scootering.

School Property

Students using any transportation device, whether electronic or not-electronic, must dismount before arriving on school property. This includes all sidewalks, pathways, and walkways on school grounds. Please note that the school is not responsible for lost or damaged equipment.

Provincial Regulations

These modes of travel offer many physical, mental, and community benefits. Please visit the Ontario website for a full list of regulations. Every cyclist under 18 must wear a properly fitting bike helmet. Some students may also choose to use electronically assisted devices, such as e‑scooters or e‑bikes. In Ontario, you must be 16 or older to ride an e-scooter or e-bike. When riding e‑scooters or e‑bikes, it is important that students follow all applicable municipal regulations to ensure their safety and the safety of others.
